PLEA FOR THE CORPS TO INCLUDE DESTRUCTION OF FRESH WATER AND ECONOMICS IN REEVALUATING DROUGHT PLAN

Following is a copy of a recent comment on balancing the basin which sums up our views nicely.

COPY OF COMMENT TO CORPS:
The parameters for evaluating the various drought plans do not include retention of as much fresh water as possible without doing damage to the environment and similar concerns for the economics of the area. Everyone will attest to the idea that wanton destruction of fresh water during a drought is unforgiveable. And the economics of the area sucks because of the horrible reputation on lake level control over the past 15 years.  Yet neither were considered in your previous determination of which plan was best. As engineers it is the job of the corps to come up with the best technical answers possible in managing our lakes.  It is not to blindly follow some rules written in 1985 by congressmen who do not have the necessary information to come up with the best plan.

Please add these two considerations when reevaluating the test data to come up with the optimum drought protection plan.
